Minisink Valley Teachers Association

The Minisink Valley Teachers Association (MVTA) interviews candidates and then makes endorsements. Has the community been happy with these choices?   I hope for the sake of Minisink Valley that they do not continue to play follow the leader when it comes time to vote.  Are candidates putting on Academy Award performances in these interviews?  Are the goals unrealistic?

Relations have been very contentious between Administration, Board and MVTA.  The Administration is being replaced, the Board is having three of nine seats replaced, and I would hope that the tone of the MVTA would change.

I keep seeing the word “fight” used.  After the recent contract settlement, the newspaper quoted the MVTA president saying , the “fight” will continue.  I was hoping that was a newspaper error.  It was unfortunate to see the same terminology used on the MVTA website.  I think those at the table need to genuinely approach it as that they are negotiating not that they are fighting.

Does that leadership need to change as well as the administration and the board?  That is for the MVTA membership to decide.

We need to heal.  Not to inflict further injury to this community.
